Women's BJJ FAQ
Is Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu good for women's self-defense?
Yes. BJJ uses leverage and technique instead of size and strength, so it teaches you how to control and escape from a bigger, stronger person. That is why it is one of the most recommended martial arts for women's self-defense.
Do I need to be in shape before starting BJJ?
No. You get in shape by training, not before it. Coaches adjust the pace to your level, and you can take a breather whenever you need one.
What should I wear to my first BJJ class?
Wear comfortable athletic clothes you can move in, like leggings and a fitted t-shirt or rash guard. Skip anything with zippers or buttons, remove jewelry, and bring a water bottle.
Is Women's BJJ beginner friendly?
Yes. The class is built for all levels, and most women start with no experience at all. Coaches walk beginners through every technique step by step.
