WHAT IS A STRANGER?

What is a stranger? Are they big? …Mean? …Ugly? …Do they Wear funny clothes?

a stranger is anyone you don’t know until your parents tell you otherwise.  Is a nice grandma that you haven’t met a stranger? Yes. What about a store clerk?  Yes. If they are strangers, does that make them bad? NoT NECESSARILY.

As a matter of fact, most people that act nice, REALLY are nice. Most strangers are probably good people.  However, there is a big difference between nice-ness and goodness. Some people might act nice just to get what they want. For this reason, we should always be careful around people we don’t know.

So, what do we do when a stranger asks us for help? Or maybe even to go somewhere with them?

Here is a quick talking point for your kiddo. Repeat the following and have them say it back to you:

You say: “NO!”

Tell the stranger NO!

kid: “NO!”

You say: “GO!”

Tell the stranger to gO!

kid: “GO!”

You say: “YELL!”

If they don’t leave, yell and make lot of noise!

kid: “YELL!”

You say: “TELL!”

Run away from them and Tell a trusted adult!

kid: “TELL!”
