What’s in that Belt?

I find myself constantly reminding myself, and my students, of this important martial arts truth:

Strapping on a black belt does NOT make us become something.

The value of that belt is found in who it’s wrapped around. We are only as fast as our slowest kick, as strong as our weakest strike, and as tenacious as our latest excuse. Much like a bank, our value only measured by what we have sown into our account. The same way, the belt around your waste only holds up your pants until you step up to the plate.

This is also true of any position we accept responsibility for!

Always striving to put our best in that belt…

We alone BRING the VALUE, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND.

So, what’s inside your belt?
